Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this series, participants will be better able to:
1. Characterize dementia, delirium, and depression
2. Differentiate dementia from other conditions
3. Describe differential approaches to speech therapy for people living with dementia
4. Discuss barriers and the importance of engaging people living with dementia in decisions about how technology is used in their care  
5. Identify two common outcomes that could be improved by adopting trauma-informed practices
6. Identify diagnostic criteria and other relevant terminology related to Mild Cognitive Impairment 
7. Integrate the 4 M principles of geriatric medicine into a holistic approach for addressing the housing needs of patients
8. Identify how aging and cognitive decline impact sleep

Barbara Cochrane, PhD, RN, FAAN

Our series is organized, planned, and moderated by the fantastic Barbara Cochrane. Dr. Cochrane is our Northwest Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Center’s Co-Director and Professor Emeritus in the School of Nursing. Her work focuses on older women’s health and healthy aging, specifically positive aspects of aging, symptoms in older women, breast cancer prevention and survivorship, and cardiovascular health.
