Understand the genetic contribution to various forms of dementia, including the phenotype, penetrance and inheritance patterns of the more common genes.

Determine whether a person with dementia is more or less likely to have a strong genetic form of the disease and when a genetics referral is appropriate.

Understand some of the reasons that patients pursue or decline genetic testing for dementia.
