By the end of this lecture, you should be able to:

  • Identify the herbals and supplements that are proposed for the prevention and/or treatment of dementia
  • Describe the relevant in vitro and in vivo studies that support or refute the efficacy of ginkgo biloba, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant vitamins
  • Discuss the potential risks of using herbals and supplements in patients with dementia
