Learning Objectives

 

By the end of this lecture, you should be able to:

  • Distinguish the presentation of thyroid disorders in older versus younger patients.
  • Interpret thyroid function testing in healthy older individuals and older patients with non-thyroidal illness.
  • Determine older patients with thyroid disorders who should be treated versus those who do not require treatment.
