Learning Objectives

 

By the end of this lecture, you should be able to:

  • Identify the medical risks to patients with intellectual disabilities with respect to transitions of care.
  • Describe ways in which communication with and support to caregivers can be strengthened to improve health outcomes for patients with developmental disabilities.
  • Name the unique challenges posed by polypharmacy and psychoactive medications in aging patients with developmental disabilities.
